I know this is a stretch but the best way that my grandmother who is deceased pronounced it was denadona. It was made from the tip of the zucchini and it was a pasta dish.Do you know what it is and if so do you have a recipe for it. Thanks

    Dear Maria,

There is not such a word in either Neapolitan or Sicilian dialect that I know..but pasta with zucchini is the most polular of all pasta dishes in the south, especially from the Neapolitan/Sorrento area. In Italian, we call it Pasta Primavera – primavera is spring and the dish is made with the sun ripened vegetables of spring. The only other thing that I can think of is:DE NADONA…. from NADONA….AN AREA ..VILLAGE OR PERSONs… that this was a recipe from someone your grandmother know, but most likely, the recipe was one your grandmother made up and so it was referred to as Di Mia Nonno, the southern Italian dialect of Della mia Nonna, from my grandmother. It means good home cooking, made with love.
