Pino Luongo Announces the Opening of Centolire Café & Panini
We are proud to announce our plans to open on Saturday, March 7, 2009 — Centolire Café & Panini on the street level of my Italian restaurant on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Neighborhood locals and museum-goers will now find a ground floor café and Italian sandwich shop in addition to the elegant second floor, sunlit dining room with banquet seating overlooking Madison Avenue at 86th Street. The café menu features soups, salads, Panini, open-faced sandwiches and sweets, all delicately prepared from seasonal ingredients, all under $10 per entrée.
Salads include frisee, bacon and crouton; herb; tuna, artichoke and boiled eggs. Pasta dishes include meat lasagna; macaroni and cheese; vegetarian cannelloni and tagliolini with three tomatoes sauce. The menu’s namesakes – Panini — come as Portobello mushroom and provolone on ciabatta; Pino’s grilled gouda, onions and balsamic on sliced bread; Taleggio cheese with rosemary and grapes, Prosciuotto, butter and arugula, and chicken liver braised with celery and pancetta on a baguette; asparagus, soft eggs and prosciutto on soft bread. Desserts continue the Panini theme with Nutella over ricotta; ricotta and honey sandwich. Wines and beers are available for $8/glass, and $6/bottle.
In Italy we often stop midday for a quick sandwich and a beer – we’ll take a moment to catch up on the soccer scores, world news or the company of a friend. I am happy to offer this service – great food served quickly and eaten slowly – for my guests.
Centolire Café & Panini is open seven days a week from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
Centolire Café & Panini is located at 1167 Madison Avenue, 85th & 86th Street on New York City’s Upper East Side.
212.734.7711.
We offer take-out and delivery of both the Centolire menu and the Cafe and Panini menu.
